Feb 7, 2018-Dharan police is investigating into an alleged kidnapping and rape of a 20-year-old college student after a complaint was filed by the woman’s family.
DSP Rameshwor Paudel said a 22-year-old suspect was being held in connection to the incident that took place on December 26, 2017.
The woman’s family had filed a complaint against the suspect, who hails from Diprung Rural Municipality-3, Khotang, at the Area Police Office, Dharan, on Monday.
The woman, who is originally from Dhankuta and studying in Dharan, was reportedly kidnapped by the suspect and taken to a hotel where he raped her repeatedly.
She apparently managed to flee from her captor two days after she was abducted.
DSP Paudel said the suspect has confessed to his crime in order to avenge the assault that was carried out against him by the woman’s family members.
The woman’s family has claimed that the suspect had injured himself when he fell while fleeing the crime scene. (PR)
