Police release six FNNTE members including Chairman Karmacharya
May 6, 2018-The police have released six members of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) including Chairman Yogendra Nath Karmacharya on Sunday.
According to a source, FNNTE Chairman Karmacharya, senior vice chairman Bijay Swar, General Secretary Saroj Sitaula, Vice General Secretary Basanta Bhandar, FNNTE Province 3 coordinator Dharmaraj Dhimal among six others, arrested for enforcing transport strike in favour of syndicate system, were released today on the condition that they will be taking part in a meeting with the government talks team.
The government team comprising of a minister and transport entrepreneurs are preparing to hold talks to resolve issues that rose following government crackdown on transport syndicates.
The police had arrested FNTEE Chairman Karmacharya among six others on Saturday from a hotel in New Baneshwor while general secretary Sitaula was arrested on Friday.
Transport entrepreneurs in a move that supported syndicate system in the transport sector had called for a nationwide transport strike on Friday following which the government took a strong stand against the move and arrested various members of FNNTE for disrupting the transport service which falls under the essential services.
