Province 2 Speaker takes oath in Hindi language
Feb 14, 2018-Amidst growing dissatisfaction in Madhes regarding preference of Hindi over local languages, Province 2 Speaker Saroj Kumar Yadav took the oath office and secrecy in Hindi language on Wednesday.
Province Chief Ratneshwor Lal Kayastha administered the oath of to Yadav this afternoon.
Earlier, Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) Parliamentary Party leader Jitendra Prasad Sonal proposed Yadav, a lawmaker from RJP, for Speaker, while Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal (SSFN) Parliamentary Party leader and Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut seconded the proposal.
Yadav was elected unopposed for the post of Province 2 Speaker as he was the only candidate to filed candidacy for the post. Senior-most member of the Province Lagal Lal Chaudhary had announced Yadav as the Speaker of the Province.
After being elected as the Speaker, Yadav said that the road ahead is full of challenges and he is committed to move ahead by taking all the parties together.
The election of Deputy-Speaker has been slated for Friday.
Last week residents of Janakpur had burnt effigies of leaders from the Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum-Nepal (SSF-N) and the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N) to protest their decision to address the first Provincial Assembly (PA) meeting in Hindi.
