Jajarkot man sentenced to six years in prison for raping ill woman
Feb 10, 2018-The District Court Jajarkot has sentenced a man to six years in prison for raping an ill woman and also ordered him to pay Rs 50,000 in compensation to the victim.
A single bench of Justice Dev Kumar Giri announced the verdict against Dal Bahadur Bitalu, 26, of Subanauli, Chedagar Municipality-8, Jajarkot district.
Bitalu had raped a 45-year-old woman in Banka of Chedagar Municipality-5 in an inhuman way in July last year.
Police said that the he raped the woman who was lying on the road due to severe illness, causing critical injuries on her private part and other parts of the body.
This is the first time that the court sentenced a man to prison and also ordered to pay compensation to the victim in the district, Meghnath Chapagain, an official at the court said.
He said that Bitalu raped the woman under the influence of alcohol.
The culprit has been doing his time in the district prison for the past six months.
The victim, however, had died five months after the incident took place.
