5 rape cases reported in 2 days from Bhaktapur
Feb 7, 2018-Police on Wednesday made public five persons arrested for their alleged involvement in separate rape cases in Bhaktapur district.
According to Bhaktapur Metropolitan Police Circle, the victims of the rape cases that took place within a span of two days include a minor, three children and a woman.
Two teenagers aged 14 and 15 were raped at Srijana Nagar in Suryabinayak Municipality-5 on Tuesday. Police have arrested Amir Pandit, 22, a native of Janaki Nagar in Barataha Municipality-12, Sarlahi and currently residing in Srijana Nagar, and Sanjiv Rae, 21, of Baneshwor in connection with the incident. They were made public today.
Bhaktapur Police Spokesperson Krishna Prasain informed that they arrested the accused following complaints from the victim’s parents which stated that the arrested duo committed the crime while Rae was visiting Pandit at his room.
Likewise, police on Monday, also made public SIresh Gharti Magar, 20, of Hansapur in Babai Municipality-3, Dang, arrested on charge of raping a 16-year-old girl of Tathali, Changunarayan Municipality-9, and Basanta Tamang, 18, arrested on charge of raping a five-year-old minor of Kamal Binayak, Bhaktapur Municipality-10.
Similarly, in another incident, police have arrested Karna Bahadur Pun, 38, of Bhulke in Gurbakot Municipality-9, Surkhet, for raping a 45-year-old woman at Sudal, Changunarayan Municipality-8-based brick kiln.
The police have informed that they have extended the remand of all the arrestees.
