Snowfall in Manang, Jumla, Gorkha affects normal life
Jan 24, 2018-General life has been hit hard as almost all areas in the northern district of Manang experienced snowfall on Wednesday, intensifying cold conditions in the region.
Locals informed that areas including Timang, Danakyu, Chame of Chame Rural Municipality and upper parts of Manang including Pisang, Humde, Thorong La, Ghyaru, Tilicho including Nar Phu witnessed snowfall. Likewise, the snowfall that occurred from around 2-3 am this morning along with strong winds have stopped vehicular movement to and from Chame, according to Chame Rural Municipality Chairman Lokendra Ghale. Acting chief of Annapurna Conservation Region, Manang, Chetra Gurung said that tourists, heading for Thorong La and Tilicho have not been able to complete their trek and are stranded midway. With the rise in cold conditions, local people have not been able come out of their home, while most of the people from the village have already moved down to the lower market areas.
