Jan 26, 2018-The fifth edition of The Amazing Motor Rally, a 200 km rally-cum-competition, is taking place today. The rally starts from Nepali Tourism Board in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, and will come to a close at the Himalayan Front Hotel, in Sarangkot, Kaski.
Organised by KGH Foundation and Nepal Cancer Disease Prevention Centre, the event aims to raise awareness about the misconceptions pertaining to cancer—the event is themed: “Cancer can be cured if treated early on (Cancer niko hunchha suruma upachar gare). “We also aim to promote tourism and impart the Nepal Tourism Board’s slogan Experience Nepal,” Diwakar Rajkarnikar, the co-ordinator of the rally, said. Even though it is a competition, according to organisers, the winner will not be judged solely in terms of speed and time. “For instance, the driver who reaches earlier than the set time will receive 20 points extra; while the driver who reaches later will receive 10 points extra. And the winner will be the one who scores the least.” Along the way, there will be seven check points, where the marshals will allocate several ‘tasks’ to the drivers.
The title winner of the competition will receive a return ticket—from Kathmandu to Instanbul to Kathmandu—from Turkish Airline; the second will get a ticket, Kathmandu-Bangkok-Kathmandu, from the Nepal Airlines; and the third will get Kathmandu-Pokhara-Kathmandu ticket from Buddha Air.
