Indian PM Modi offers worship at Muktinath Temple
May 12, 2018-Visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered worship at Muktinath Temple in Mustang district on Saturday.
The Indian premier, who reached Muktinath Temple through a Nepali Army chopper at around 8 am, offered worship for around 20 minutes. A large number of security personnel were deployed around the temple.
Locals, clad in traditional attire, welcomed him by offering khada, a traditional ceremonial scarf.
On the occasion, the Muktinath Area Development Committee offered a Shaligram (a usually black fossil found in Nepal and worshipped as symbol of Lord Vishnu) to the Indian Prime Minister.
Seven Buddhist monks from right side of the temple and Lama Hira Bahadur Thakuri from the left side welcomed PM Modi while five priests chanted mantra.
Priest Krishna Prasad Subedi and Ani Jhuma Karsang Gurung performed puja for PM Modi.
Indian PM Modi arrived in Nepal on a two-day state visit on Friday.
