President’s role posing threat to democracy: Deuba
Mar 7, 2018-Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the role of President Bidya Devi Bhandari and remarks made by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have posed a threat to democracy.
Leader Deuba also accused the left alliance of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) of trying to capture the court. He was referring to the remarks PM Oli made a few days ago that court’s order on the appointment of three members to the National was a sheer intervention into the authority of executive.
Speaking at the national assembly of district chairmen of Nepal Tarun Dal, the wing of Nepali Congress, in Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, the NC leader said the youths should be prepared to counter the challenges posed by the left alliance against the democracy.
NC President Deuba expressed his reservations that President Bhandari endorsed the names nominated by the KP Sharma Oli-led government for National Assembly members by sidelining the recommendation made by his government.
On the occasion, Deuba announced that the NC will be made strong by filtering the leaders.
Saying that the government has been trying to politicise all the state bodies, he said his party will counter such activities of the government.
