NC’s Pushpa, left alliance’s Shiva Maya file candidacy for deputy-speaker post
Mar 15, 2018-The main opposition Nepali Congress has fielded Pushpa Bhusal while the left alliance has fielded Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe as their respective candidates in the election of a deputy-speaker slated for Friday.
Bhusal reached the Parliament premises at around 12:45pm while Tumbahamphe reached at 1:30pm this afternoon to file their nominations.
Bhusal’s candidacy was proposed by Dila Sangraula and seconded by Devendra Raj Kandel.
Likewise, Tumbahamphe’s candidacy was proposed by Dev Gurung and seconded by Rabindra Adhikari.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has fixed the election of a Deputy Speaker for 1:00 pm tomorrow. The time for filing the candidacy was from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm today.
CPN (Maoist Center) leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara was elected unopposed as the Speaker on March 10. The Article 91 of the Nepal's constitution states that the elections of a Speaker and Deputy-Speaker shall be held within the 15 days of the commencement of the first meeting of the House of Representatives.
The lower house had held its first meeting on March 5.
