425 people held for ‘inappropriate’ activities; 1103 bikers face action


Mar 1, 2018-Traffic police took action against 1,103 motorbikes for violating traffic rules on the day of Phagu Purnima on Thursday.

The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested 425 people including 21 women for engaging in ‘inappropriate’ activities and disturbing peace.

According to SSP Bishwo Raj Pokharel of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, they were arrested from different parts of Kathmandu for disturbing the peace and engaging in ‘inappropriate’ activities.

Security was tightened in the Kathmandu Valley for the entire day to avert possible no untoward incidents.

The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, had mobilised more than 3,500 police personnel and 25 mobile teams to provide security.

According to Assistant spokesperson Mukunda Marasini of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Office, the motorbikes were taken under control as bikers were riding the two-wheelers without proper documents.

Police conducted strict security-check in 85 places of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur in view of the Holi festival.
