Power of words

Feb 7, 2018-Whenever I write, I choose and use my words very carefully. I once read somewhere that every single word is capable of making an impact on the reader. Since that day, I have realised that the words you use play an important role in defining who you are as a human being. Hence, I am very careful when it comes to choosing words.

Words are our immediate source of verbal and written communication. They can make or break a relationship. Your words let other people into your world, regardless how honest or dishonest they are. Words are the windows to your feelings and your opinions through which the readers can look.

Hence, to become a good writer, it is important that the writer chooses comprehensible words and that hit the readers where it matters. The writer should always try his best to shrink and expand his language in the right places to explain his ideas to the right people.

The reader base is made of various kinds of readers; some enjoy rich vocabulary, others want an easy read. Some enjoy decoding jargons, other detest technical words and phrases. Some indulge in metaphors; others just do not get the imagery.

Of course a writer cannot cater to the whole wide range of readers, but he can at least try to stick to a style while choosing words and create a brand of writing for himself. Literature at the end of the day is play of words, and this play of words is art. It is a skill. If you know what words to use at what time, your words will have a massive impact. Or else, they will just go to waste.

Every word comes with an energy and power of its own. Words have the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to harm, to hurt, to humiliate, and to do so much more. Words are powerful forces of nature.

Words are at once a source of nourishment and destruction. It is so important to use your words wisely. You have to channel your thoughts, emotions, and imaginations carefully. The right words can take you a long way. The wrong words on the other hand can hinder your journey.

Like Robin Williams says, “No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”
