Four ministers to be sworn in today

Feb 26, 2018-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is likely to expand his Cabinet on Monday by inducting four ministers.

According to a source, Ishwor Pokharel and Yubaraj Khatiwada from the CPN-UML and Ram Bahadur Thapa and Matrika Yadav from the CPN (Maoist Centre) will be appointed ministers today.

PM Oli was was expected to give the Cabinet a full shape today.

All the four ministers will be sworn in at Sheetal Niwas this evening. The ministries of the inducted ministers have been kept secret.

According to a source, preparations are underway to appoint Khatiwada as the Minister of Finance, Thapa as the Minister of Home Affairs and Yadav as the Minister of Forest. Meanwhile, it is still unclear which ministerial portfolio will be given to Pokharel.

Though preparation was underway to appoint Khatiwada as the minister from National Assembly, the Supreme Court on Sunday had issued a short-term interim order to the government to not administer oath of office and secrecy to the newly nominated three members of the National Assembly by the KP Sharma Oli-led government.

A single bench of Justice Prakashman Singh Raut had directed the government to not administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly nominated NA members Yubaraj Khatiwada, Ram Narayan Bidari and Bimala Poudel. The oath taking ceremony of the recently elected NA members was scheduled for March 4.

Earlier on February 21, President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the recommendation of government had appointed three members including Khatiwada to the National Assembly.

Khatiwada should be the federal parliament member within six months after being appointed as the minister.
