‘50 percent boundary posts missing or in dilapidated state’
Feb 20, 2018-More than 50 percent of the boundary pillars between Khakraula in Kailali and Bramhadev in Kanchanpur along the Nepal-India border are either missing or in a state of disrepair, according to a recent survey conducted by a joint team from the two countries.
Surveyor Purna Bahadur Khadka of the Department of Survey said the team surveyed more than 1,000 main and subsidiary pillars along the border and found out that more than 50 percent of them need to be reinstated.
The team completed its first phase of survey on Saturday.
The surveyors also discovered that the border residents from both countries had encroached upon the no-man’s-land at many places.
Khadka said the encroachment will be removed after
the boundary pillars are reinstated.
