Jan 23, 2018-Police on Monday arrested the main shooter in the murder of Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) Chairman Sharad Kumar Gauchan from Chitwan and brought to Kathmandu.
A team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) nabbed Shyam Lama aka ‘Gumbe’ yesterday evening, CIB Chief DIG Puskar Karki said. Gumbe is a Nepal Army deserter. Police had already arrested Samirman Singh Basnet, the mastermind in Gauchan murder case. AlSO READ: FCAN Chairman Gauchan shot dead in Kathmandu Police claimed that Gumbe was also involved in the shooting of Dawa Lama, a local Gangster, in Boudha, Kathmandu, on April 11. Gauchan was shot and killed by two armed men, who came in a motorbike, on October 9 at Prayag Marg near Shanti Nagar in Kathmandu, while he was on his way to FCAN office in Anamnagar in his vehicle.
Following the incident, Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, formed a special taskforce led by DIG Ganesh KC to look into the murder case. CIB SSP Sher Bahadur Basnet, Metropolitan Police Crime Division SSP Dibesh Lohani, three DSPs and one inspector were in the team. ALSO READ: Five arrested in connection with Gauchan murder case
