Bhandari nets dozen as APF win 26-0 l


Jan 2, 2018-On a day of goal-glut during the second day of the National Women’s Football League, departmental teams Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) collectively accounted for 38 goals to humiliate their respective regional opponents under the National Sports Council (NSC) Championships at the Anfa Complex on Monday.

APF registered a landslide 26-0 win over Mid Western Region in their opening match of the tournament, while Army crushed Western Region 12-0. Nepali international Sabitra Bhandari alone netted 12 goals for APF while Anita KC scored five goals. Bhandari opened the scoring in the third minute and added other goals in the 15th, 17th, 24th, 34th, 40th, 47th, 52nd, 59th , 60th, 77th and stoppage time. KC was on score-sheet in the 11th, 16th, 44th, 72nd and 81st minute.   Anjali Yonjan added four more goals and Rekha Poudel scored twice.

The day’s early fixture saw Dipa Rai scoring five goals and skipper Krishna Khatri completing a hat-trick for Army. Rai netted in the 44th, 63rd, 69th, 78th and 82nd minute. Khatri opened the account for Army in the 27th minute, added her second in the 49th and completed hat-trick in the 81st through penalty. Indira Rai scored twice for the departmental team in the 72nd and 75th minutes. Punan Rana and Sharmila Thapa were also on targets for the departmental teams.
