8 candidates from Province 2 elected to NA unopposed


Jan 28, 2018-All eight candidates from Province no 2 have been elected unopposed to the National Assembly on Sunday. The unanimous election of Province 2 lawmakers was possible after Samajwadi Party Nepal candidate Mohammad Akthar Hussain withdrew his nominations.

Nepali Congress candidate Jitendra Dev, Rastriya Janata Party’s Ramesh Prasad Yadav and CPN-UML candidate Suman Raj Pyakurel have been elected unopposed from other category. Likewise, from women’s category CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Shasikala Dahal, NC’s Mukta Kumari Yadav and Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal candidate Pramila Kumari were elected unopposed to the NA from Province 2. Similarly, RJP candidate Brishesh Chandra Lal was elected in marginalised and disability cluster while SSFN’s Ram Prit Paswan was elected to the NA unopposed in the Dalit cluster.

According to Chief Election Officer Ram Krishna Upreti, the name list of the eight newly elected NA members from Province 2 will be pasted on Monday while they will receive their certificates on February 7 as per the election schedule.
