Security upped in Kapilvastu in view of upcoming polls (With photos)
Security measures have been stepped up in Kapilvastu district in view of the second phase of federal parliamentary and provincial assembly elections slated for December 7.
Security personnel from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been conducting surprise security checks along with sniffer dogs on people traveling to and from nearby Indian towns at subsidiary roads of the East-West Highway and bordering towns of Krishna Nagar, Maryapur and Chakarchauda.
The security measures have been upped following a series of violent activities particularly bomb blasts in various parts of the country in the run-up to the elections.
Likewise, Nepali and Indian security personnel are jointly patrolling the bordering areas of the district and Nepal Police and Central Investigation Bureau personnel in plain clothes have also been deployed to prevent any untoward incident in the final hours of the polls.
According to District Security Committee Coordinator, Chief District Officer Madan Bhujel, around 5,000 security personnel have been deployed in the district for the elections.
“We have opted strong measures to make the elections free and without fear,” said CDO Bhujel, “We have created a secure environment for voters to take part in the upcoming elections.”
Meanwhile, 153 polling stations in the district have been listed has highly sensitive, 65 sensitive and 15 have been listed as normal in terms of security.
