PM Deuba to announce date for NA election within a couple of days


Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, after consultation with the Election Commission (EC), has said that date for election to the members of National Assembly (NA) will be announced  within a couple of days.

During a meeting held at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Ayodhee Prasad Yadav and EC officials had jointly urged PM Deuba to announce the date for election to the Upper House, EC spokesperson Dinesh Kumar Ghimire informed. The election body’s suggestion comes shortly after President Bidya Devi Bhandari authenticated the ordinance on National Assembly two months after it was forwarded by the Cabinet, on Friday. On the occasion, CEC Yadav said that NA election could not be held until the appointment of province chief and provincial assembly members administered oath of office and secrecy, Ghimire informed. Meanwhile, PM Deuba congratulated EC and its office bearers for conducting the parliamentary and provincial assembly elections in a free and fair manner. Meanwhile, Yadav praised and congratulated PM Deuba for his support in making the elections successful.

Election commissioners Ila Sharma, Narendra Dahal, Ishwori Prasad Paudyal and Sudhir Kumar Shah were present in the meeting.
