Dec 8, 2017-A 116-year-old man exercised his franchise during the second phase of elections to the federal parliament and provincial assembly at Sunawal-3 in Nawalparasi district on Thursday. Dirgha Narayan Jaisi Bhandari cast his vote at the Yugjyoti Basic School polling centre.
In Makwanpur, 102-year-old Beniram Pokharel of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan-16 cast his vote during Thursday’s elections.
According to election officials at Janapriya Secondary School polling centre in Chisapani, the sprightly old man reached the election centre with his son and cast the vote himself.
Elderly voter collapses, dies
An octogenarian voter died after he collapsed in a polling centre at Banepa-4 in the district on Thursday.
According to Superintendent of Police Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, Krishna Karmacharya, 82, collapsed at the Chandeshwori Secondary School polling centre and died while being rushed to a hospital.
In Palpa, Jhul Bahadur Kumal, 74, died while returning from the polling centre in Rampur Municipality-6. The asthma patient died while being rushed to hospital.
